The Man with the Iron Fists looks like an old school martial arts movie with a modern edge.
Set in nineteenth century China, this action/martial arts flick is about a blacksmith who forges complex weapons and must help defend his village against annihilation by evil forces.
The trailer indicates there will be lots of action, kung fu and cool weapons, with a hint of camp and the violence of modern-day, movie-making. It’s been a while since I’ve seen a good martial arts movie, so bring_it_on!
Although The Man with the Iron Fists was written by RZA and Eli Roth and directed by RZA, it has the feel of a project that Quentin Tarantino would be involved with. The battle scene in the brothel especially is reminiscent of the fight scene in Kill Bill Vol. 1 between Beatrix (The Bride) and O-Ren Ishii’s guards at The House of Blue Leaves. So it comes as no surprise that The Man with the Iron Fists is being ‘presented’ by Tarantino.
Starring, Lucy Liu, Russell Crowe and RZA, it hits theaters November 2, 2012.
