Gale Force 9 is making a new collectors line of miniatures based on Dungeons & Dragons. The Dungeons & Dragons Collector’s Series are high quality, unpainted, limited edition resin miniatures sculpted by some of the best in the industry.  The line will focus on monsters (big things), duels (two creatures) and adventuring parties (groups of creatures).

The first set is the Rise of the Underdark a new setting by Wizards of the Coast due out this Fall. The focus on denizens including: A Purple Worm, Drow Raiding Party, Lolth & Eclavadra, Illithid Raiding Party, a Beholder Eye Tyrant and Lolth in Spider Form. Expect a few more Underdark themed releases to follow.

With competition from old D&D miniatures, Pathfinder Battles minis and Reaper’s Bones, it’s hard to say how these will be received.  The miniatures are well sculpted, but are limited and need to be painted meaning it’s not likely they will be found on many battlemats.

GF9 also released Caverns of the Underdark 3D Adventure Set. The set comes with eight fully painted resin stalagmite pieces and is available in stores now.
