Never mind the two back-to-back episodes coming up next, how is Legend of Korra going to out awesome this Book with 14 more Chapters?

Korra fills in Tarlok’s backstory after escaping Amon who took aways Tarlok’s bending.  Asami misbecoming acutely aware that Mako dotes on Korra and questions why.  All the city councillors except Tenzin are abducted.  Amon and the Equalists attack Republic City from Zepplins.  Lin fights off two airships so Tenzin and family can escape Amons clutches only to pay the penultimate price for her heroism.  Zuko’s grandson is on his way to help the hiding avatar in a divided city.

Last week we pretty much ruled out who Amon wasn’t, Tarrlok or Asami.  I thought it was a bit shocking when Amon stripped Tarrlok of his bending. I’m stunned that the Korra writers stripped Lin Beifong of her bending powers.  Things just got real seems to be issued every episode now.  Just when you think things can’t get any more tense or the show can do anything to ramp up the dire nature, it does.  The Legend of Korra isn’t just a great follow-up to three seasons of Avatar: The Last Airbender, it’s great television on its own.  If they can strip a major character’s bending away then what else will the writers do?  And yet in among all the heavy stuff is a subplot of Asami becoming aware that her boyfriend has feelings for the avatar, another woman.  And this is the beauty of Korra, is that this minor plot, which on other stories would often feel tacked on, feels very real and genuine.  Yes, there’s a mad man setting up a war in Republic City and he’s stripping benders of their powers and your dad is aligned with the madman and just as important your boyfriend might be in love with another girl.

Lets see what the last hour of this book brings.  Even though it’s a season finale and we are trained to expect the unexpected, Legend of Korra really does live up to the hype.  You really get the feeling that everything thing is on the table, that everyone is in play and fair game.  I doubt Korra will die or have her bending stripped, but the guys and gals at Nick have primed us to be very afraid for Korra.  Is it Saturday yet?
