Rock of Ages is a fist-pumping walk down hair metal lane.

Based on the original off-Broadway production about a “small town girl” waitress Sherrie Christian (Julianne Hough) and a “city boy” busboy Drew Boley (Diego Boneta) who fall in love during the 1980’s in L.A. and featuring songs by Bon Jovi, Journey, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Styx, Poison, and White Snake among other well-known hard rock bands. Directed by Adam Shankman, the man who brought us Hairspray and The Wedding Planner, the film looks to have a wide appeal due to its story, music and all-star cast.

Tom Cruise (channelling an Axel Rose vibe) is Stacee Jaxx, a washed up rocker that everyone looks up to and expects things from. And yes folks he actually sings in this film. He is also not the protagonist of the film. Not only packed with hair metal, Rock of Ages has a very talented cast featuring Russell Brand, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Alec Baldwin (nice hair, man) and Mary J. Blige.

Rock of Ages will be released on June 15, 2012. Don’t stop believing!
