Joel Zimmerman (the man behind the mouse mask) began his career in the 1990s, and even contributed to Motley Crue drummer, Tommy Lee’s 1999 album Methods of Mayhem. However, he didn’t start to become widely known until 2007 when he wrote Faxing Berlin and released it under Deadmou5. It wasn’t until 2008 when his collaboration, Move for Me with Kaskade hit No.1 on Billboard’s hot dance chart, that he started to blow up. Later in 2008 he became the biggest selling artist on Beatport.

Since then, Deadmou5 has won numerous music awards, headlined several music festivals, performed at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver and the Grammy Awards, and has toured to various parts of the world. He has even influenced the video game world by becoming a playable avatar in DJ Hero 2, has a radio station dedicated to him in Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars and was commissioned as the house artist for the 2010 Video Music Awards.

Deadmou5 previously expressed gratitude towards Lady Gaga (released her debut album The Fame in 2008) for bringing dance music into the pop music scene and paving the way for the him to the mainstream. However you look at it, dance music is no longer underground and Deadmou5 has become a dance floor icon. He continues to get people on their feet and partying by bringing his amazing blend of Electronica/Trance/House/Dubstep to the masses.
