Twisted Metal is the latest video game to be heading to the big screen.

Hot on the heels of the newest version of the Twisted Metal video game, it was announced that Twisted Metal will be made into a movie. Freakishly/fun characters, Sweet Tooth (from the series’ fourth installment) the homicidal clown who drives an ice cream truck and Doll Face, the young driver of an 18-wheeler who’s trapped behind a mask will both be in the movie. Like the video game, the movie will revolve around underground events that pit combatants in a fight to the death. It is expected that there will be a combination of monster trucks and street fighting.

Deadline reported that, Brian Taylor (Jonah Hex, Gamer, Crank) has struck a 7-figure deal with Sony Pictures to write and direct a live action adaptation of the longest-running PlayStation-exclusive franchise. This will be the first solo directing effort by Taylor.

A large part of the success of the new movie will likely depend on how well the new video game does. Only time will tell if it was meant to fade into obscurity or the current game will appeal to a broad, new audience.
