New video games out this week: Final Fantasy XIII-2, Soulcalibur V, NeverDead, Dead Island: Ryder White and Command Ops: Highway to the Reich.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 is a sequel to the 2009 role-playing game, Final Fantasy XIII and the events take place three years later. Some survivors have started over rebuilding the Grand Pulse, Lightening has disappeared and Serah sets out to find her. A new feature called Mog Clog has been introduced to signify the random encounter with a monster, as monsters no longer freely roam the map. This feature will grant players various bonuses or penalties, depending how long it takes to enter battle with the enemy.


Soulcalibur V

It has been 17 years since the events in Soulcalibur IV. New heroes and returning warriors will now clash in the battle between good and evil. There are a few changes in gameplay including the removal of the Critical Finishes, and Soul Gauge. However, a new gauge that can be charged in combat to allow characters to execute Brave Edge and Critical Edge attacks has been added.

Demon hunter, Bryce was cursed with immortality five-hundred years ago. Now, he must return and use his regenerative powers to thwart the threat of the world being consumed by a demonic plague. NeverDead is a third-person action game, set in a fantasy and horror-influenced universe, that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Gameplay will also feature puzzle elements.

Dead Island: Ryder White is the expansion to the recently released, first-person survival horror, Dead Island in which players survive on the fictional zombie-infested island of Banoi. Dead Island is a role-playing game that uses XP and character customization, with a major focus on melee weapons. Players earns XP by completing tasks and killing enemies. After leveling, points can be sunk into new skills.


Command Ops: Highway to the Reich

Genre: Strategy

Command Ops: Highway to the Reich is the first expansion to the Command Ops game that includes 13 scenarios covering all of the major actions that took place during the World War II, Market Garden Campaign in Holland during September 1944. There is also a major update that incorporates numerous corrections to maps, orders of battle, unit compositions, reinforcement schedules and overall gameplay.
