Book Releases for January 31, 2012
New books out this week by authors, William Landay, Michael J. Sullivan, Kristin Hannah, P.C. Cast & Kristin Cast, Catherine Anderson and Darynda Jones.
Assistant District Attorney, Andy Barber is completely blindsided when his fourteen-year-old son, Jacob is charged with the murder of a fellow student. Now he must take on the most challenging case of his career – defending his son when damning evidence and shocking revelations surface. Definitely an unfortunate position to be in, but isn’t it the responsibility of an attorney to defend a client no matter what. Perhaps he shouldn’t have agreed to take the case in the first place if he is unable to put aside personal feelings and do what needs to be done.
Heir of Novron is the third volume of The Riyira Revelations series. Picking up where Rise of Empire left off, Royce, Hadrian and many others head to Aquesta for the upcoming Wintertide Celebration. As part of the celebration, Modina will be married and the Nationalist leader Degan Gaunt will be executed. In this volume everything is tied in, questions are answered and there aren’t any loose ends. Thank you Sullivan for tying everything together so nicely. This series is filled with great action, but I have to ask – why force a love story if there really isn’t one forming organically?
Home Front depicts the life of a military family from a female perspective. Jolene is a Black Hawk helicopter pilot in the National Guard. She is in a twelve-year marriage to defense attorney Michael. The two have a rocky relationship, are dealing with the pressures of everyday life and are raising their two daughters. Their world gets flipped upside down when Jolene is unexpectedly deployed. Now Michael must figure out how to be a single-parent while Jolene battles on the front lines. Great to not only see the life of a military family from a female perspective, but having the husband step into the parenting role surely is a game-changer in a relationship, where the female usually does all the parenting.
Lenobia’s Vow: A House of Night Novella
Authors: P.C. Cast, Kristin Cast
Country: United States
Genre(s): Young Adult, Fantasy
Publisher: St. Martin’s Press
Publication date: January 31, 2012
Lenobia’s Vow is the second book in the novellas, that provide backgrounds on the supporting characters in the House of Night series. The series is about teenagers who transform into vampyre over a four-year-period and are sent to boarding school to learn not only how to transition, but vampyre sociology, religion, etc. Seldom do any survive if they leave the boarding school before the transition is complete. Hey, any authors writing a vampire series that actually have some clue as to traditional lore (ahem, no glittery fairy vamps) is alright by me.
Brianna O’Keefe finds herself broke and needing to support her orphaned niece, so she takes a job working with a Colorado rancher. To protect herself against unwanted advances, Brianna pretends to be married to gold miner, David Paxton. It seems to be working just fine – until the real David Paxton shows up.
Paranormal PI and Grim Reaper, Charley Davidson struggles to juggle her case-load and deal with her family, who thinks she should be doing less dangerous work. At the same time, Reyes Farrow, the devilishly handsome (part-human, part-supermodel) son of Satan insinuates himself into her life every chance he can. This is the third novel in the series by author, Darynda Jones. Who really stands a chance when the son of Satan tries to get your attention? I mean, who?http://pokupo.com/2012/01/29/book-releases-for-january-31-2012/Books
