New this week are the fourth Underworld movie, Haywire, Corilanus, Red Tails, The Flowers of War, Miss Bala and Crazy Horse.

Underworld: Awakening
Rated: R
Runtime: 88 min
Genre(s): Action, Fantasy, Horror
Director: Mans Marlind, Bjorn Stein
Stars: Kate Beckinsale, Michael Ealy, India Eisley, Stephen Rea

The Buzz
Blah blah blah Kate Beckinsale blah blah blah returns blah blah blah pleather blah blah blah guns blah blah blah vampires blah blah blah werewolves. Seriously, you were in or out on this one before you even started to read.

Haywire
Rated: R
Runtime: 93 min
Genre(s): Action, Thriller
Director: Steven Soderbergh
Stars: Gina Carano, Ewan McGregor, Michael Fassbender, Channing Tatum

The Buzz
Want a less supernatural tough chick movie then Gina Carano is your girl. The MMA star plays a black ops soldier hung out to dry. She has to stay alive long enough to find out who set her up. Where have I heard that plot before… oh yeah, pretty much half the movies involving red state friendly martial artists. Good luck Gina, Chuck and Stallone gave you some big shoes to fill.

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
Rated: PG-13
Runtime: 129 min
Genre(s): Drama
Director: Steven Daldry
Stars: Thomas Horn, Tom Hanks, Sandra Bullock, Max von Sydow

The Buzz
After 9/11 a father’s only legacy to his son is a locker full of stuff. Either very touching or very annoying depending on who you are. Was released to a limited market last year and now opening wide.

Red Tails
Rated: PG-13
Genre(s): Action, Adventure, Drama
Director: Anthony Hemingway
Stars: Nate Parker, David Oyelowo, Ne-Yo, Bryan Cranston

The Buzz
The Tuskegee airmen as financed by George “Star Wars” Lucas. OK, lets skip the rest of the Star Wars references and deal with a project that Lucas has been working on since the late ’80s. He was beaten to the punch of the black airman saving our bombers from the German air wolves, but can a stellar cast and awesome visuals breathe some new life into a still cool and sadly still relevant story?

Coriolanus
Rated: R
Runtime: 92 min
Genre(s): Drama, Thriller
Director: Ralph Fiennes
Stars: Ralph Fiennes, Gerard Buttler, Brian Cox, Lubna Azabal

The Buzz
Ralph Fiennes directed, yes directed this revenge movie that pits him against/with Gerard Butler. Shot in Serbia which is meant to stand in for Italy, there are worse ways to waste an hour and a half.

The Flowers of War
Rating: PG
Genre(s): Drama, History
Director: Yimou Zhang
Stars: Christian Bale, Ni Ni, Xinyi Zhang, Paul Schneider

The Buzz
Zhang Yimou and Christian Bale have a whole lot of talent between them, but you might not know it from this endeavour. Set during a white-washed Rape of Nanking, other movies recently have dealt with the subject much better. Yes, City of Life and Death, I’m looking at you.

Limited Release

Miss Bala
Rating: R
Runtime: 113 min
Genre(s): Action, Drama
Director: Gerardo Naranjo
Stars: Stephanie Sigman, Noe Hernandez, Irene Azuela, Jose Yenque

The Buzz
Lets cut to the chase and say it’s been short listed for the Foreign Language Oscar. For model Stephanie Sigman plays a woman trying to become a beauty queen in a contest controlled by the Mexican mob.

Crazy Horse
Rated: Not Rated
Runtime: 134 min
Genre(s): Documentary
Director: Frederick Wiseman
Stars: Philippe Decouflé, Daizy Blu, Philippe Katerine

The Buzz
Documentarian extrodinaire Frederick Wiseman goes behind the scenes of the (in)famous Paris nude theatre. A must for fans of Wiseman or The Crazy Horse, but remember it is a documentary of a nudie club.
