The Vampire Diaries – Episode 3.10: The New Deal
The Vampire Diaries is back and they didn’t waste any time getting right down to business.
Bonnie is awoken from a dream about wandering through Klaus’s family coffins. She finds them in the old witches property. She opens one of the coffins and sees Klaus inside with the pendant in his hand.
As soon as she gets the opportunity, she goes to the house and finds Stefan waiting for her. He tells her that he stole the coffins from Klaus and explains this is the only way he can get leverage and defeat Klaus, but he needs her help. She agrees to help, but when she goes to open the coffin like in her dream, she finds it sealed. Stefan tells her he has tried everything he can think of using brute force and it won’t open. That’s when Bonnie realizes it is sealed by magic and the answers they are looking for to take Klaus down are in the caskets.
Klaus is completely livid about Stefan stealing the family caskets, so he approaches Elena and Damon to help him find Stefan and get his property returned. They tell him neither has any idea where Stefan is nor that he stole anything that belonged to Klaus, but Klaus expects their help. When they don’t respond quickly enough, he compels Jeremy to take off his protection ring and stand in the middle of the street so one of his minions can run him over at top speed. Alaric and Elena find Jeremy in the street sans ring and Alaric tackles him and takes the hit.
Elena goes to find Stefan at the witches house and tells him that he needs to give back the coffins, because Klaus just tried to kill Jeremy. Stefan says to file it under not his problem and tells her to move along. She slaps him across the face and leaves.
Damon offers to take a crack at it, even if it means going back into the witches house where he is most unwelcome and suffers third degree burns. He goes after Stefan and drags him outside, then stabs him for saving Klaus. Stefan explains that once again he did it because Klaus instructed the hybrids to kill Damon if anything happened to him. Damon is upset that Stefan saved his life again, but gets it and asks to be let in on his plan. Stefan agrees as long as Elena isn’t involved and takes him back into the house with the witches permission, to show him the coffins.
Due to the fact that Alaric was wearing his ring, he dies and comes back to life. This time however, there is a problem and he has some internal bleeding, so Elena calls the paramedics. They show up and try to rush him to the hospital, but are stopped by the same minion that is actually a hybrid. He sends them on their way and tells Elena she better invite him in or Alaric will die. Ok, ring or not, how many times is one person really supposed to get killed and come back from it? I like the new complication, because it gives the humans in the show a bit more of a sense of mortality.
Meanwhile, Jeremy confronts Tyler and tries to shoot him with an arrow for almost getting him killed. See, Tyler was hanging out with Jeremy so much to get him off the Vervain so he could be compelled by Klaus. And of course, Tyler wants to thank him properly for selling him out to his master.
When Jeremy gets back to the house, he shoots the hybrid in the back and he goes down. He tells Elena, the hybrid isn’t dead yet so he goes in the house and grabs the clever to chop off his head. Next he tells her, they need to get Alaric to the hospital. Okay, admittedly take-charge Jeremy is much better than whiney or angsty, Jeremy, but whoa danger!
Damon gets to the hospital to give Alaric blood and help him heal, then Elena calls him over to ‘fix’ Jeremy again. They decide to send Jeremy elsewhere to live with relatives, get a fresh start and think it is cool to date human girls, not ghosts. Hopefully, this time Damon put some effort into the compulsion and it works!
Elena thanks Damon for everything he did and the moment many have been waiting for finally happens—the two kiss. He decides he would rather be remorseful for taking action, than just simply loving his brother’s girl.
I can’t wait to see what, in addition to Klaus’s family is in those coffins. It’s unfortunate that Jeremy gets shipped off just when his character got interesting!http://pokupo.com/2012/01/07/the-vampire-diaries-episode-3-10-the-new-deal/TVThe Vampire Diaries, vampires
