A delay of execution, a kiss, a showdown and another body possession left me spellbound by this episode of True Blood.

The spell that Marnie/Antonia (Fiona Shaw) and her minions cast resulted in only one casualty thanks to Bill’s (Stephen Moyer) insistence that all vampires (on the grid) in the surrounding areas bind themselves in silver until nightfall.

Jason (Ryan Kwanten) proved yet again that he can be resourceful, when he managed to get to Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) and tackle her before she was able to walk into the sunlight and burst into flames. However, his saving her managed to complicate issues between the two of them further when they kissed afterwards and Jessica took it as a sign that it was time she left Hoyt (Jim Parrack). Little did she realize Jason doesn’t want to do anything to hurt his best friend.

Bill wanted to try and reach some sort of peaceful resolution with Marnie/Antonia even after the mass vampire execution attempt by the witches, but Marnie/Antonia will not rest until vampires are completely extinct. This led to a witch vs. vampire showdown at midnight in the Bon Temps cemetery. Bill was joined by Eric (Alexander Skarsgard), Sookie (Anna Paquin), Pam (Kristin Bauer) and other various vampires. Marnie/Antonia was joined by Tara (Rutina Wesley) and other various humans and witches.

Lafeyette (Nelsan Ellis) was too busy to join the party, because another spirit – the tormented one that has been hanging around Arlene’s (Carrie Preston) baby decided to take over his body and abduct the child. It turns out that she hasn’t been able to rest since her baby was murdered by the cowardly father many years ago. The doll was one she purchased to give to her own child.

Jason tried to do the right thing by saving Jessica after she saved his life, but the result was further complications between him and Jessica. It is unlikely that the vampires and witches will be able to live amicably as long as Marnie/Antonia is alive. Lafeyette is going need to find way to cast out the spirit that has inhabited his body and get some protection against it happening in the future.
